CIQS - BC AGM Notice
CIQS-British Columbia is pleased to announce that we have confirmed Ali Fard, Director and Country Manager of Driver Trett Canada Ltd., as our 2017 Annual General Meeting and Dinner speaker! The AGM will be followed by dinner, Ali Fard’s presentation and a social evening for members and guests.
If you are not able to attend please vote by downloading and returning the AGM Proxy Form.
Ali is a chartered quantity surveyor with twenty years of experience in providing advisory services on numerous construction disputes and claims, including preparation of claim documents, expert reports, settlement negotiations, and contractual and claims management strategies, in various industries such as Construction, Energy, Infrastructure and Manufacturing sectors. Past experience includes leading and providing consulting/advisory/expert services to contractors, developers, owners and banks. Ali has provided these services in numerous major projects, including oil & gas, infrastructure, power plants and buildings. He has consulted on projects in a multitude of countries and various jurisdictions.
Ali’s qualifications include a Masters of Law (LLM) and an MBA, both from UK, as well as a BSc and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from credible universities. In addition, he is a Fellow at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), an RICS Accredited Mediator and a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
Ali is the Director and Country Manager of Driver Trett Canada Ltd.

Annual Dinner Sponsorship Opportunities
CIQS BC is pleased to offer the opportunity to provide sponsorship to our regular dinner events. This is an ideal chance for consultants, contractors, developers and other related companies to not only support the organization in hosting these events but to gain exposure and promote their firm to the membership.
The sponsorship is $1000 per annum and will include these benefits:
- Recognition at all dinner meetings (a minimum of four events each year)
- 2 dinner tickets per event (a $630 value)

Call for CIQS-BC Board Director Nominations
Join us in promoting the interests and awareness of the quantity surveying profession in British Columbia! We are currently seeking nominations for new CIQS-BC Board Directors.
As a Board Director, you will be a vital part of advancing the industry by providing your expertise and ideas to all persons or organizations having interests in quantity surveying and construction estimating. You will also act as an information source for those interested in becoming a quantity surveyor. This rewarding position allows you to have direct input in the future of quantity surveying in B.C.
Benefits of being a Director on the Board of CIQS-BC include interacting with professionals in the industry, increasing your profile within the construction community and meeting your CPD requirements.
This is an exciting time to be a Board Director as CIQS-BC is one of the hosts of the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors Congress (PAQS) coming to Vancouver in July of 2017, to which your contribution would be very important to assist in the success of this event!

1. LONG-RANGE EDUCATION DIRECTOR:
Our Long-Range Education Director will be responsible for liaising with post secondary schools and organizations to assist in growing the CIQS presence within the industry. Duties will include coordinating events with schools and/or organizations that would be of benefit to the CIQS, gain traction in providing future students and members the knowledge on quantity surveyors and providing strategic planning ideas for the long-term growth of the affiliation and the membership.
2. LIASION & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER:
Our Liaison & Communications Officer will be responsible for assisting in communication within the CIQS as well as with other organizations. Duties will include assisting coordination with other organizations for joint events, assisting in internal CIQS matters and manage completion of the quarterly newsletter to members.
3. MARKETING DIRECTOR:
Our Marketing Director will be responsible for helping heighten the CIQS image within the industry. Duties will include coordinating marketing materials from National with events, trade shows etc. to help promote the image of the profession and assisting in acquiring speakers for CIQS-BC events.

David Lai Young Quantity Surveyor Congress Bursary Program
In recognition of the volunteer contributions of David Lai, PQS(F) over the past 10 years and his invaluable work on the Education portfolio, CIQS is pleased to announce the establishment of the David Lai Young Quantity Surveyor (YQS) Congress Bursary Program.
The bursary program will provide funding for one YQS from each Affiliate region in Canada to attend Congress. Please see the program application guidelines for full details and requirements.
