Shane McKernan, PQS

President — Shane McKernan, PQS

Shane is a founding member and Partner of Quantus Consulting & Management Inc., based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. With over a decade of experience in the construction sector, Shane’s experience includes cost consulting, project loan monitoring and project & construction management. Shane has been on the CIQS – BC Board of Directors since 2013, where he joined as the boards first ever student member.

Shane started his career as a Red Seal carpenter, who then graduated from the BCIT Construction Management program in 2013. He also holds the PQS designation within the CIQS and has been elected as an Associate member of the RICS.

 

Vice President and Education Director — Keith Damphousse, PQS

Keith is a Senior Quantity Surveyor with LEC Group specializing in cost planning, payment certification, and loan monitoring. Since joining LEC in 2012, Keith has been able to work on numerous projects including elementary schools, post-secondary institutions, casinos and entertainment facilities, health care projects, shopping centers, warehouse facilities, heavy civil projects, and residential.

Keith holds a Bachelor of Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Keith completed the Architectural and Building Engineering Technology program in 2010 and Construction Management program in 2018.

Angela Lai, PQS

Past President — Angela Lai, PQS

Angela is a professional quantity surveyor with over 16 years’ experience in the construction industry spanning South Africa, the UK and Canada. Angela's experience is diverse having worked as a cost manager, a project monitor and a management consultant. Angela also brings extensive international lecturing experience and is currently a part-time instructor at the British Columbia Institute of Technology for the CM Degree Program, an APC assessor for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and an instructor for Passive House Canada.

Pasindu Gunathilake, CEC

Director, Marketing — Pasindu Gunathilake, CEC

Pasindu accumulated his experience and education globally beginning by completing his Higher National Diploma in Quantity Surveying & Building Economics in Sri Lanka. He then moved to UK where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying from the University of Salford, in Manchester. He has Quantity Surveying and Estimating experience in the construction and development industry in Sri Lanka, Oman and Canada.

His experience includes Cost Planning, Loan Monitoring, Cost Control, Cost Management, Contract Administration, Construction Claims and Variations. Prior to his current position at ConEcon Consultants as a Quantity Surveyor, he worked as an Estimator in Lower Mainland for commercial, residential, and tenant improvement projects.

Wanhai Li, PQS

Director, Communications and Membership — Wanhai Li, PQS

Wanhai Li is a professional engineering (P.Eng.) and professional quantity surveyor (PQS) with more than 20 years of experience and expertise in project management, quantity surveying and estimating. He is a multi-discipline estimator who has been involving with most of Canadian LRT projects, some road and bridge projects in Canada and abroad.

Carlos Aquino, PQS

Director, Long-Range Planning — Carlos Aquino, PQS

Carlos Aquino is a Professional Quantity Surveyor with over 10 years’ experience in the estimating field. He is currently working as an estimator at Canadian Turner Construction. Carlos has been able to work on various projects in the commercial, residential, health care and industrial sectors.

Carlos has a diploma of Architectural and Building Technology from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, as well as a Bachelor’s degree from the University of British Columbia.
